About this newsletter
What is this?
This newsletter is an erratic errata of stories, fun facts, and wild trivia that I find during my research and work. It will also include updates about upcoming projects and events, recommendations of things I'm reading/watching, and other related randomness. I promise this will not just be an advertising update medium.
I'm here to share my work and weird historical obscurities I find, not to sell you something.
Who are you?
I am Codex O'Healey Melcher— a writer, folklorist, and insufferable historical gossip.
I graduated from Denver’s Lighthouse Writers Workshop’s Book Project in 2026 and were published in the anthology "All The Lives We Ever Lived" Vol. 5 in 2024 and Vol. 6 in 2025.
Formerly, I was the producer and host of the podcast Tomefoolery (featured in The Stranger and Queerty.com) and a regular contributor to the infamous live magazine The Paper Machete. My parody/satire production Star-Spangled Sitcoms: Huzzah & John Adams was featured in The Chicago RedEye and was called “clever and relatable” and “a master combination of American history and American television” by the Loyola Phoenix. I also performed two shows at The Indianapolis Fringe Festival and my live essay show In Falsitas Veritas was released as a book and album in 2017.
As a comedian and emcee, I performed at clubs, events, and festivals all over the country (and Sweden) and was a Finalist in The Advocate’s National Queer Comedy Search and the 2016 NYC Laughing Devil Comedy Festival.
